A tour of the Hearst Castle high above San Simeon, California in the hills overlooking the Pacific showcased the dining hall in the the main house with one of the 200 huge tapestries hanging in the Castle while centered among the priceless china, crystal and silverware on the table are the common condiments
Citizen Hearst demanded at each meal.
The incredibly ornate indoor swimming pool in one of Castle buildings with the high diving board in the background.
The back door to one on the three guest house houses on the property. The Hearst lands originally stretched 50 miles along the coast and 27 miles inland over the mountains. Most of this territory has now been donated to the state for parks and conservation areas.

Bull elephant seals, all males and each between 4,000 and 5,000 pounds, bark and battle during the struggle for sleeping space as the sun sets over the a beach next to the Pacific Coast Highway in central California.

Earlier in the day, I has stopped to watch two sharks swimming in tandem up the coast parallel to the PCH when a turkey vulture swooped down onto a fence post overlooking the ocean just south of the seals' battlefield.
